I was at that match at the old lakeside oval. One of the last times South played as South at South.
Sounds like it was from 1981 it was Tony Buhagiar's first year at Essendon, and South Melbourne still played at the Lakeside Oval.
thank you so much for these wonderful memories.
Just love the old commentary just love it
Rudy Vallee
So good and wholesome..😅😅😅❤
My nick-name is Portia, and I too got my name based off of this radio series.
Man, 20 years is a lot. Hope you released this someday
Rudy Valee and Rosemary Lane in Gold Diggers in Paris (1938) - the last of the Gold Diggers movies. The Gold Diggers movies were made at Warner Brothers, of course, making the music available for recycling for Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes!
I will never forget the raspy voice of Peter Evans,we thought he was on deaths door.He was always entertaining.
Carmel Gleeson
Remember this wonderful gentleman in our first years in Melbourne. ❤
I vaguely remember when Peter Evans died. Legendary performer. I recently acquired a copy of Peter Evans' Scrapbook, 1986, ABC Books, a tribute to the great man who died the previous year. It contains mainly an assortment of press clippings from the late 1950s to 1985.
Sommelier was the correct answer instead of Gorman’s meaning greedy guts.
I remember a Warner Bros Cartoon with this Elmer Blurt Character trying to deliver a large potted plant to an apartment building or hotel. I have been looking for that cartoon for years. Does anyone else remember it?
The Sheik, Brilliant !
From memory it played on a Monday night on 1zB in Auckland and was sponsored by Dulux paints. What ever happened to radio drama and comedy shows ?
Wow! Carthage 42 here. Yesterday I was talking about the Argonauts with a friend. I remember the theme tunes perfectly after more than 60 years! I adored the Muddle Headed wombat - so beautifully acted, and I still use the charmingly mispronounced word "animiles" (animals) to this day. I listened to the Argonauts every day for years after school. It's interesting to hear the "Australian" pronunciation of the time - more BBC than ABC. And culturally we have come a long way since then. We would no longer refer to the residents of Port Said as "the natives". The Argonauts was of its time. Thanks so much for posting this program on UA-cam!
Great Australian artist one of our best and he will go down in history in Aussie musical comedy. Went from hard manual work to entertainment for the masses wish I was that talented lol
Hello, from where do we get this horse carriage in Giswil?
Daffy Duck sang this song
And put the wine away like water water water water water water water water water water…
Geez, he used to make me laugh. Funny guy
Always enjoyed listening to 3LO in the morning listen to Evans and all future presenters.
Me!
All conversation stopped and the volume on my grandparents’ radio (or rather ‘wireless’) was turned up up bit so as not to miss a word for the inhabitants at or nearby Martin’s Corner. I recall finding it difficult to sleep after a scary episode in which servant Nebakanezza ran from under the house screaming that he’d found a skeleton there. The following night listeners were relieved when it was revealed that, although there was a skeleton, it was only that of a goat - whew!
I never lived in the wireless era, but I closed my eyes and imagined listening to this on some radio with a smiling family around me, in one of the old houses I see falling down or in ruins out in the bush now
Worked in the Jack Davey unit at 2GB Sydney. My role was to carry out on stage the prizes the contestants won and the general gofa in the office. A great performer on stage and radio and his driver used to take me home each night after the live shows in the Macquarie auditorium as I was only 16 years of age. Great memories. RAY RUMBLE
Modin 35 (I think that was the number...all so long ago).
6:34. And put the wine away like water. Water water water water water water water water.
@dickhanes7094. It happened from Looney Tunes
What’s the name of the daffy shirt that was shown?
Brilliance
I was in the OVALTEENIES in the 1930's with my Brother and Sister. I am now 93 my sister is 90, my Brother passed away several years ago. I still have fond memories of those years
You were absolutely awesome, I so love the music of the 1930s, I hope pray you are well, I simply love your wonderful song, I wish I had a full record of your beautiful music. Thanks
♫ *_And now the happy Ovaltineys... bid you all adieu_* ♫ ♫ *_And don't forget your Ovaltine... it's very good... for you_* ♫ ♫ *_And we'll be here again next Sunday... with songs and stories new_* ♫ ♫ *_And so until we meet again... the Ovaltineys bid you all adieu._* ♬ _British Dance Band_ was a music genre which blended elements of big band American jazz with quirky English music hall traditions. It often had very hopeful melodies and lyrics - which ran counter to the reality of the 1930's economic depression. The soundtrack to _Pennies From Heaven_ also typifies The British Dance Band era.
I remember listening as a child. Was there a classical piece of music he always played when angry or annoyed which was related to dancing?
Such joy!
Walter Lantz complained about censoring cow udders in 1931, and he brought it up frequently regarding cartoon censorship. He really milked that complaint!
vibe and a half
My mum loved and hated his humor equally ah those school days. I of course was too young to appreciate this but can now. I wish his ilk were on the wireless today. Thank you.
Where is the original Riveting Rhapsody. I will pay reason $$ for a copy of the cartoon w/ Liszt Rhapsody 2nd
The cartoon "Rapsody in Rivets" is available on the "Loony Tunes Platinum Collection, Volume 3". It's on Amazon for $20.
Where is the original bldg with cartoon characters going up and down and at the end of the piece - foreman slams door and the building implodes
The Simpsons
I wish my dad was still alive, he could tell me what the secret code meant! He would have been 97 this July.
I still remember listening to this as a little kid, in Wellington, New Zealand😁 happy memories! It's a joy to find this here and feel like that small laughing child again, thank you💖
8:15 Does anyone know who this fellow is? Thanks for uploading this!!
Yes what
Thanks for your “time-capsule”. Really enjoyed it. Always listened to him in the 70’s. Loved his sense of humor.
60 s for me.
Have fond memories of sitting on the lounge floor in the evenings around the radio listening to this wonderful show with my whole family in Dunedin.❤
Anyone know what the last song is called?
And remember too his off-sider "Lasho" = Hal Lashwood (died 1992) oa.anu.edu.au/obituary/lashwood-harold-francis-hal-17116
